In terms of safety, the Line 4 route alternates between stretches traveled on bike paths and streets in central Rome open to car traffic. Extreme caution is recommended while cycling in the city's urban traffic and the first section of the Appia Antica. Once on the Appia Antica you will need to be careful as you will encounter large cobblestones that can cause you to lose control of your bicycle, leading to falls. We advise you to pedal on the sides of the road, as natural lanes have formed over time due to the continuous passage of bicycles.
It is strongly recommended that you always wear a protective helmet while riding and that you tie your bicycle with a chain and padlock at each stopping point along the route.
